Sustainable Energy Production Incentive Scheme (SDE++).

This scheme provides subsidies for large-scale renewable energy generation or reduction of CO2 emissions. Therefore, this scheme subsidizes the 'unprofitable top'. This is the difference between the cost price of the technology (the 'base amount') and the average market remuneration for the energy generated or CO2 emissions reduced by the technology (the 'correction amount').

The subsidy is received over a period of 12 or 15 years. How many years of subsidy is obtained depends on the category. There are 5 main categories:

  • Renewable electricity;
  • Renewable gas;
  • Renewable heat;
  • Low-CO2 Heat;
  • Low carbon production.

These include various techniques. For example, under renewable electricity you can apply for solar panels, or under low-CO2 heat for an electric water heater, or under low-CO2 production for CO2 capture and use.

What is the benefit?

The SDE++ is an operating subsidy. This means that applicants receive subsidies during the period that the installation is in use (the operating period). The amount of this subsidy depends on:

  • The actual amount of renewable energy generated;
  • The actual amount of CO2 reduced by using the plant, and the market price.

For whom.

Applicants include corporations and (non-profit) institutions.

Deadline

Applications can be submitted from Sept. 10, 2024 to Oct. 10, 2024.
