Responding to research into underground cable connection between Eindhoven East and Maarheeze now possible
A new underground cable connection will be installed between the Eindhoven East and Maarheeze high-voltage substations. This 150 kilovolt (kV) cable will help maintain the reliability of the electricity grid in the Eindhoven metropolitan region. The location of the cable has yet to be determined. On February 3, 2026, the province of North Brabant and grid operator TenneT will provide more information about this project in a digital broadcast. Responses to the plans can be submitted from January 9 to February 19, 2026.
Responding to the Intention and Participation
The Intention and Participation (VenP) document for this project was published on January 8, 2026. Among other things, the VenP describes how the province of North Brabant and TenneT will involve residents and other stakeholders in the next steps.
From January 9 to February 19, 2026, it will be possible to respond to the VenP (Public Consultation Document) for the new underground cable connection between Eindhoven East and Maarheeze.

On February 3, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the province of North Brabant and TenneT will host a digital broadcast to present the current state of affairs. They will explain why this project is so important for the region, what has happened so far, what steps will follow, and how stakeholders can contribute their ideas. Registration for this digital broadcast is not required.
