Agreement on the Approach to Drug Hotspots in East Brabant, 2025–2030

On March 31, 2025, the mayor of the municipality of Nuenen signed the “East Brabant Drug Hotspot Strategy 2025–2030” agreement. The agreement is evaluated every two years by the parties involved. The Administrative Steering Group (BRG) decided to conduct an evaluation after one year. This evaluation was carried out recently, and input was gathered from all parties to the agreement. On May 18, 2026, the BRG discussed the results and proposed changes from the evaluation, after which it approved the amendment to the agreement. The amendment primarily concerns the incorporation of the amendment to the Opium Act and the addition of the Province of North Brabant as a covenant partner.

The council has decided to approve the signing of the “East Brabant Drug Hotspots Action Plan 2025–2030” agreement (version 2.0, BRG resolution of May 18, 2026).

Introduction of centralized vote recording in elections starting in 2027

The municipality holds elections almost every year and currently uses a decentralized vote-counting system (DSO), in which polling stations count votes at the party and candidate levels on election night itself. The proposal is to switch to a centralized vote-counting system (CSO). Under this system, polling stations would count votes only at the party level on election night, and the count at the candidate level would take place the following day.

The municipal council has decided to approve centralized vote counting (CSO), on the condition that this decision takes effect only after the municipal councils of both municipalities, Nuenen and Son en Breugel, have explicitly approved this proposal.

Implementation of the Temporary Restraining Order Act using support software from Khonraad

Imposing a temporary restraining order is a far-reaching administrative measure that requires careful, timely, and uniform implementation. Implementing this measure places high demands on cooperation, information sharing, and record-keeping by the municipality, the police, and Veilig Thuis. The temporary restraining order module from Khonraad supports a clear and secure workflow. This ensures timely and careful decision-making in collaboration with the parties involved.

The council has decided to purchase the temporary restraining order module from the firm Khonraad and to use it to implement the Temporary Restraining Order Act. The costs will be covered by the Security Budget.
