Nuenen also participates in promising start

Our municipality is participating in the national action program Promising Start. Many municipalities preceded us. Kansrijke Start is one of the prevention programs started in Nuenen.

Most children get a good start in life and grow up healthy. Unfortunately, there are also children who do not have as good a start. This may be due to premature birth and/or low birth weight. Children may also face medical or social risk factors such as stress, smoking, poor nutrition or lack of loving attention. This has a lifelong effect on both physical and mental health and development. It also affects opportunities in school, the job market and in society.

We are committed to making the first 1,000 days (-10 months to 2 years) of every child in our community as promising as possible. These first 1000 days are crucial for an optimal chance of a good future. For this we want to form a local coalition in which professionals from birth care, youth health care, general practitioners, child care and the social domain participate. We want to involve (expectant) parents in a vulnerable situation and deploy experts by experience, so that the activities better match the needs and wishes of the residents. Together we will determine the spearheads and make a plan of action that we will implement and evaluate. More information can be found on the website of Kansrijke Start and on the website of Pharos
