Online information meeting: development Gulbergen estate

Gulbergen Estate: the green zone in the municipalities of Nuenen and Geldrop-Mierlo where you might come to get a breath of fresh air, play sports, or visit the zoo. For several years, Metropolitan Region Eindhoven (MRE) has been working with stakeholders on a future plan for the area. Where do the plans stand now? During the online information meeting on October 26, 2023 you will be updated on this.

Development Vision

During the online information session, you will hear how plans are progressing and what the next steps are. The Development Vision for Gulbergen will also be explained. What preceded?

Since the end of 2020, Landgoed Gulbergen has been largely owned by the Eindhoven Metropolitan Region (MRE). Where there used to be a landfill, among other things, work has been going on for several years now on a plan that offers added value for the entire Brainport region. In the spring of 2022, the surrounding area had several opportunities to contribute ideas about the future of the area. From this, one clear wish emerged from those involved: Landgoed Gulbergen should become a combination of green and recreation, tranquility and space. An area where people can get a breath of fresh air, play sports, recreate and enjoy nature.

Green and recreation

In the middle of last year, the executive board of the MRE commissioned the project team to further investigate whether it is possible to develop a plan that does justice to those wishes. Such a plan must be financially feasible. The assignment to the project team is to create a budget-neutral plan. That means that all incurred and future costs must be recovered. This is no easy task. Because, unlike, say, the construction of (vacation) homes or the installation of solar panels or wind turbines, there are few opportunities for revenue in a green and recreational plan. The online meeting will explain this in more detail.
