Acting Mayor Madeleine van Toorenburg will present the bronze medal of honor of the municipality of Nuenen to Mrs. Klara Jansen-Boshuizen and Mrs. Maria Verhaegh-Giebels on Monday afternoon, December 16, 2024. They have dedicated themselves from the beginning to the Christmas hampers campaign "Nuenenaren voor Nuenenaren", which is taking place for the ^25th time this year. 

Mrs. Klara Jansen-Boshuizen and Mrs. Maria Verhaegh-Giebels have been paying attention to the Christmas hampers action for many years. Together with a number of volunteers who form the Christmas hampers committee and with many volunteers from Nuenen, the two ladies have ensured since 1998 that the Christmas hampers action "Nuenenaren voor Nuenenaren" is a success. 

The organization of collecting goods and putting together the Christmas packages was the idea of the then pastor. Maria Verhaegh-Giebels initially started implementing this idea on a small scale. Then Klara Jansen-Boshuizen joined in and now they organize it together with many volunteers. As part of this action, people who are struggling financially, people who have gone through a difficult year and people who have lost a housemate receive a food package or a package with attention or mourning.

With these bronze municipal awards, the municipal government, on behalf of all residents, wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude.
