What is your new name for the Hunger Man?

The renovation of sports hall the Hongerman and the multi-purpose rooms Scarabee, Kwetternest and Notendop will start soon. When the building is finished, expected in the fall of 2026, the entire accommodation will have one name. And that name will be up to the residents of Nuenen, Gerwen and Nederwetten!

How does that work?

We determine the name in two steps. Throughout March, you can send in your new name for the Hunger Man. From all the proposed names, an expert jury will choose two suitable names that meet all the criteria in April. The name Hongerman will be added as a third possible name. From those three names, residents may choose their favorite in May.

The name receiving the most votes will become the new name of the sports hall and multifunctional accommodation in Nuenen south. The submitter of the winning name will have the honor of unveiling the name together with the Alderman social real estate.

What requirements must the name meet?

  • Easy to use
  • Clear and recognizable to a wide audience
  • Matching Nuenen
  • The name must be unique in Nuenen
  • The name should not evoke negative associations
  • The name must consist of 8 to 10 letters because of the location of the name on the building
