Redesign of the Brabantring and Part of Heikampen

The Brabantring and the surrounding residential streets in Heikampen are set to undergo a major renovation. The asphalt on the Brabantring has reached the end of its service life, and the street will be redesigned as a safe, green access road (30 km/h).

Key Tasks & Goals

  • Climate Adaptation & Sewer Systems: Construction of a new stormwater sewer system to divert and collect excess rainwater. 
  • Kikkerpad School Zone: Creating a well-organized, safe school zone and improving the drop-off and pick-up process for children.
  • Brabantring Redevelopment: Design it as a 30 km/h zone with physically safe crossings. 
  • Hofjes Heikampen: Construction of a new stormwater sewer system, maintenance of the pavement while preserving the valued green spaces and ensuring sufficient parking capacity.

Schedule & Milestones for the Brabantring and the Heikampen Section

  1. Still to be done: Projectimplementation – spring 2027/late 2027

    The work will be carried out in phases from March 2027 through December 2027.

  2. Still to be done: Preparation for implementation—fall 2026/spring 2027

    In the fall of 2026 and the spring of 2027, we will prepare the project for implementation and award the contracts for the work.

  3. Upcoming: Designpresentation/open house - October 15, 2026

    In October 2026, we will host a presentation session to showcase the design.

  4. Currently in progress: Repair of root damage on Kikkerpad - Summer 2026

    The root damage on Kikkerpad is being repaired.

  5. Completed: Working Sessions with Focus Groups - June/July/September 2026

    In June, July, and September 2026, we organized various working sessions with the focus groups.

  6. Completed: Incorporation of Input into the Customer Requirements Specification (CRS) - August 2026

    In August 2026, we incorporated the feedback we had gathered into the Customer Requirements Specification (KES).

  7. Completed: Brabantring and Part of HeikampenNeighborhood Walk - July 2, 2026

    The neighborhood walk took place on July 2, 2026.

  8. Completed: Resident Meeting on the School Zone & Hofjes Heikampen - May 19, 2026

    On May 19, 2026, a residents' meeting was held for the school zone and the Heikampen courtyards.
