Today, Feb. 24, 2025, is exactly three years since the war in Ukraine began. Every year we commemorate this moment together with Ukrainian refugees at the municipal shelter. This year, too, we reflect on this.

As a sign of hope, strength and solidarity, a linden tree (Tilia) was planted today. The linden tree symbolizes peace, love and community spirit. A sign was placed near the tree that reads:

"This tree symbolizes hope, strength and solidarity. Planted in memory of the Ukrainian community, Feb. 24, 2025."

The unveiling took place at 3:30 p.m. today at the playground behind the municipal shelter on the Vrouwkensakker. Alderman Niels Wouters performed the unveiling.
