Breakthrough in redevelopment downtown Nuenen

After an intensive process in cooperation with the municipality, Van Wanrooij Projectontwikkeling B.V. and ALDI Vastgoed have reached outline agreement on the plans for the redevelopment of the area between Parkstraat-Voirt and Boordseweg in Nuenen. The Municipal Executive has decided to cooperate with the preparation of a request in principle and entering into a letter of intent.

Area and program

It involves a large part of the center area, which includes the current Albert Heijn, Expert, ALDI, Domino's and two parking lots. The plans focus on a mix of living, shopping and parking.

The explored program consists of:

  • Supermarket and retail: approximately 4,400 sq. ft. of retail, including two supermarkets.
  • Housing: approximately 89 apartments, ranging from social rental and affordable owner-occupied units to more expensive owner-occupied apartments.
  • Parking: approximately 200 parking spaces, partly in an underground garage.

The program was prepared in consultation with the municipality and will be further developed and reviewed in the coming period.

Collaboration and next steps

The cooperation between Van Wanrooij and ALDI Vastgoed is an important step for the future of the center. The municipality sees opportunities to work together with entrepreneurs and developers to create a more attractive downtown area. The Center Management is also positive about the current exploration.

Further development of the request in principle will follow in the fall. There will be active participation in this process, with both local residents and business owners. The aim is to make a decision in principle before the end of this year and to conclude a letter of intent with the developing parties at the same time. Then the developing parties, together with the municipality, can make preparations for a spatial procedure.
