Protests at Vincent van Goghplein, Saturday, August 29
On Saturday, August 29, 2026, starting at 1:00 p.m., two demonstrations will take place on Vincent van Goghplein: a demonstration by the “AZC Nuenen Nee” action committee—at which Geert Wilders will address the crowd—and a counter-demonstration by the “Nuenen for Living Together” citizens’ initiative. Both organizers have filed notices of their demonstrations with the municipality.
Protesting is a right and an important part of our democratic society. The Municipality of Nuenen is required to provide space for the exercise of this right and is committed to ensuring that protests proceed safely and in an orderly manner.
Traffic and Parking
Starting at 1:00 p.m., the road from Dwerspad to Albert Heijn Jan Linders will be closed to through traffic. The supermarket and parking lots will remain accessible via Beekstraat. Vincent van Goghstraat will be closed to through traffic during the demonstrations; homes and stores will remain accessible on foot. The demonstration is expected to last until 3:00 p.m., after which the roads will reopen as soon as possible.
Parking on Vincent van Goghplein is permitted until 11:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28. Any cars still on the square after that time will be towed. The parking spaces are expected to be available again by 4:30 p.m. at the latest.
Safety
During the demonstrations, police and security personnel will be present, both on the square and in the immediate vicinity, to ensure the events proceed safely. Closed streets will remain accessible to emergency services.
