Monitoring vulnerable industries
On Thursday, November 27, 2025, the Dommelstroom Intervention Team (DIT) conducted an administrative inspection in Nuenen. This inspection focused on companies operating within vulnerable industries (e.g. nail studios, hairdressing salons, massage parlors). Two businesses were checked for, among other things, use. The inspection involved supervisors from the municipality of Nuenen, the police, Safety Region Brabant-Zuidoost and the Omgevingsdienst Zuidoost-Brabant.
Why check?
With these checks we increase the liveability and safety in the municipality of Nuenen. By carrying out these checks together with the other participating partners, we maintain integrated supervision. In this way, a single visit can directly address any violations. Owners are also told immediately what they can do to eliminate the violation.
Results of the audit
- A quantity of nail polish containing Trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide (TPO) was found at a wholesaler. Since Sept. 1, 2025, the sale and use of nail polish and
gel products containing TPO is prohibited. The business owner is sorting the products containing TPO and disposing of them through the appropriate channels as chemical waste. - At a massage practice, during the inspection, the space was in use by a masseuse. It was agreed with the owner of the practice to revisit the location in the near future to check the practice space.
- At both companies, the inspection date of the fire extinguishers present had expired. In addition, there were insufficient smoke detectors present in the various rooms.
The inspection proceeded peacefully. All owners and/or users cooperated fully.
About the Dommelstroom Intervention Team (DIT).
The Dommelstroom Intervention Team is a collaboration between several partners, of which the municipality of Nuenen is also part. The DIT plays an important role in the integral approach to enforcement bottlenecks and undermining crime. Under the direction of the DIT, regular inspections of premises and locations take place. The team checks for fire safety, accounting, illegal occupancy, permits, registration in the Basic Registration of Persons, human trafficking, prostitution, drugs, social security fraud and other violations.
