Silver medal of honor for Jos Deckers
Jos Deckers (75 years old) received the silver medal of honor of the municipality of Nuenen on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:30 am by promotion. Deputy Mayor Niels Wouters awarded it during the board meeting of Stichting Leergeld Nuenen in the Presbytery H. Clemenskerk, Park 55 in Nuenen.
Mr. Jos Deckers has held several positions for quite some time. As one of the founders, he is now stepping down as a board member of Stichting Leergeld Nuenen and Stichting Plus Minus after 22 years. He was chairman of Parochial Caritas Instelling from 2016 to the present. He took office as a pastoral worker in 1999 and retired in 2016. He remained committed as a volunteer and administrator within Holy Cross Parish and Protestant Congregation Nuenen. In doing so, he had a connecting role in ecumenical cooperation. He was involved in annual projects such as the Living Christmas Story and the Christmas Package Action Nuenen. Because of his large network, he enjoys a wide reputation in Nuenen society. In 2012 he already received the bronze medal of honor. He received a royal decoration during the 2017 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
With this silver municipal award, the municipal government wishes to express its appreciation and gratitude, on behalf of all residents, upon promotion.
