Prevent fire: charge your e-bike or scooter safely

During National Fire Prevention Weeks in October, the Netherlands Fire Brigade is calling extra attention to safe charging. Since 2020, more than 300 fires have already been caused by batteries. Are you charging correctly? Then you reduce the risk considerably.

Do you use an electric bicycle or scooter? Then you are not the only one. More and more people are riding electric. But do you know how to charge the battery safely?

• Always use the original charger.
  Counterfeit chargers can be dangerous.
• Charge the battery pack on a flat, firm surface.
  Do not put anything on top or under it.
• Health for a smoke detector where you charge.
  Also in the shed or garage.
• Dispose of old batteries at the junkyard or bike store.
  Never just throw them away.
