Candidacy for municipal elections on March 18, 2026

Political parties wishing to participate in the elections must submit a list of candidates to the central electoral committee (CSB) of the municipality of Nuenen. This list contains the names of the people standing as candidates for the 2026 municipal elections. 

Submit candidate lists + accompanying documents 

Monday, February 2, 2026, is designated as the official "nomination day" nationwide. On this day, political parties in all municipalities in the Netherlands must submit their candidate lists and accompanying documents to the Central Electoral Committee (CEC) of the municipality. This is only possible on February 2.

Review of candidate lists and documents
(closed session on February 3)

On Tuesday, February 3, at 4:00 p.m., a closed session of the Central Electoral Committee will take place. This meeting is not open to the public. During this session, the electoral committee will check all submitted candidate lists and the accompanying documents. 

If an error or missing component is identified, the contact person for the political party concerned will be notified immediately after the session. He/she can rectify the omission on Wednesday, February 4, or Thursday, February 5, 2026. This deadline is also laid down by law. 

Determination of candidate lists and numbering
(public hearing February 6) 

On Friday, February 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., a public meeting of the Central Electoral Committee will take place. At this meeting, the Central Electoral Committee will decide on: 

  • the validity of the candidate lists submitted;  
  • regarding the retention of the candidates on these lists;
  • on maintaining the designation (party name/party names) above the list of candidates of a political group;
  • the numbering of the candidate lists.
