Marriage/partnership in the Netherlands (from abroad)   

If you both do not live in the Netherlands, you can only marry in our country if you or your partner have Dutch nationality. In that case, your notification of intended marriage will go through the municipality of The Hague. This also applies to a registered partnership. 

  1. Report your proposed marriage/partnership to in The Hague.
    Please indicate that the ceremony will take place in the municipality of Nuenen. 
  2. Through The Hague, we learn of your proposed marriage. 
  3. We will contact you to discuss the necessary documents. 
  • It may take a long time to legalize your documents. Please allow for a longer preparation period. 
  • Keep your original source documents safe. The municipality needs them physically in order to review your application. 

Marriage/partnership abroad

Do you live in Son en Breugel but are getting married or entering into a registered partnership abroad? 

Prior to your foreign ceremony 

  • The Rijksoverheid s website provides information you should think about, such as a declaration of marriage license or permission to marry as a foreign national in that country. 

After the foreign ceremony 

  • Please contact us by phone or email after your ceremony abroad.
    If your marriage certificate has the appropriate legalization you can have your marriage registered in the Basic Registration of Persons.
