Permit application

What is it?

You may not simply place advertising on or attached to a building. The advertising must not, for example, endanger traffic. If you want to place an advertising sign on a building, you must apply for an environmental permit from the municipality.

This is advertising that you place on or attached to a building. These include signs, banners and text or images on walls.

What to do?

Through the Environment Counter you can find out if you need to apply for a permit. You can submit the application online immediately.

Permit application

Please fill out the application form completely. When doing so, please provide the following information:

  • Why you want to place advertising;
  • The location of advertising (on a Map);
  • How great the advertising is;
  • A drawing or photograph of the advertisement.

Requirements

The municipality determines whether you get the permit. It can refuse the permit for the following reasons:

  • The advertising does not fit into the environment.
  • The advertising does not match the building where it is placed.
  • Advertising disturbs road users.
  • Advertising damages the road.
  • Advertising interferes with the management and maintenance of the road.

Tips

Do you want to place advertising outside the built-up area or along a county road? If so, you may need permission from the province. Inquire with the province about this.

Parking advertising vehicle waiver

It is prohibited to park on the road a vehicle marked with a commercial advertising indication with the apparent purpose of using it for commercial advertising.

An exemption from this can be requested. You can only get exemption from the ban if it is advertising for idealistic (charitable) causes.

How long does it take?

Within 8 weeks, you will be notified whether you will receive the permit. The municipality can extend this period once by 6 weeks.

Objecting

If you disagree with the municipality's decision, you can file an objection with the municipality within 6 weeks.
