Apply for a new passport in person at appointment. You pay the fee at the time of application.
After 5 working days you can pick up your passport (Monday to Friday between 10:00-12:30 am + Wednesday 2:30-7:00 pm).
A passport is valid for 10 years for adults; for anyone under 18, it is valid for 5 years.
Bring
- color passport photo: not older than six months + meets passport photo requirements
- current passport (or identity card) to be replaced
- all other travel documents in your possession, such as an identity card or second passport
(not necessary if they have been previously perforated by the municipality) - if under 18 years of age, is required from both parent(s) (or the one with custody):
- consent travel document minor: complete this prior to appointment both in
- proof of identity of parent(s)/guardian(s)

5 working days after the application, you can pick up your passport.
Note: Pick up your passport within 3 months or you will have to reapply for one.
Opening hours for pickup
You can pick up your passport during the opening hours of the civil affairs desk:
- mornings: Monday through Friday 10:00-12:30 a.m.
- Afternoon: Wednesday, 2:30-6:00 p.m.
- evening: wednesday 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Change appointment
Changing/canceling an appointment can be done via the confirmation email you automatically receive after making an appointment.
Rush request
Passports urgently requested before 2:30 p.m. can be picked up within 48 hours. Please make an appointment for this by phone at 040-2631631. Usually, this will be ready by the next business day. You will pay an additional fee for this.
If you do not have a passport or identity card, an urgent application is not always possible. Please contact the municipality by phone.

Minors
Minors (under 18 years of age) must have permission from both parents/guardians when applying for their passport. You give this via the digital consent form. If this is not possible, you can do this in writing during the appointment.
For travel with minor children (up to 18 years old), in some cases you will need a form to show at border controls.
Passport lost
In case of loss or theft in the Netherlands, reporting it is not necessary. During your appointment for a new passport you will sign a declaration of loss at the municipality of Nuenen. If your document has disappeared abroad, you must report it to the foreign police for your travel insurance.
Types of passports
- National passport
This allows you to travel worldwide. Many countries additionally require a visa.
- Business Passport
This passport contains extra pages for visas and customs stamps.
- Second passport
You can apply for it if:
- your passport has been temporarily taken for visa application
- or if you are visiting two countries from the list of conflicting countries);
(because of the stamp/visa from country 1, you then cannot enter country 2 with your passport);
- your first passport is still valid for at least 6 months;
- you can prove the need for a second passport (e.g., with airline tickets or confirmation from the embassy).
