Village and neighborhood council elections

Tasks of village and neighborhood councils 

A village or neighborhood council advises the mayor and aldermen. The council represents the collective interests of residents in the village or neighborhood.

The village and neighborhood councils have the following responsibilities:

• They provide (solicited and unsolicited) advice on plans and policies that affect the village or neighborhood.
• They form a link between residents and the municipality.
• They contribute ideas about developments and policy in their own living environment. 

Elections March 18, 2026 

The members of the village and neighborhood councils are elected on the same day as the municipal elections. Residents of a particular district can only vote for the district in which they live (i.e., only for Gerwen, Nederwetten, or Eeneind). 

Requirements to be allowed to vote 

• You live in Eeneind, Gerwen, or Nederwetten on February 2, 2026
  (if you have moved by that time, you will not be eligible to vote);
• You only vote for the district where you live (i.e., one of the three elections).
• you are 18 years of age or older;
• you arenot disqualified from voting;
• You have Dutch nationality;
  or you have the nationality of an EU member state;
  or you do not have Dutch nationality, but have lived legally in the Netherlands for at least 5 years without interruption. 

Polling stations where you can vote for the village and neighborhood councils 

The polling stations listed below are the main locations where votes can be cast. 

• In Nederwetten, you can only vote for the Nederwetten village council.
• In Gerwen, you can only vote for the Gerwen village council.
• In Eeneind, you can only vote for the Eeneind neighborhood council.
