Commissioner of the King opens exhibition of photographer Martien Coppens at Van Gogh Village Museum
On March 21, 2025, the Commissioner of the King, Mrs. Ina Adema, opened the exhibition of photographer Martien Coppens(1908-1986) at the Van Gogh Village Museum in Nuenen. Mayor Madeleine van Toorenburg, Alderman Bertje van Stiphout and director Simone van der Heiden welcomed the commissioner. The exhibition titled "Seeing with Heart and Eyes" was curated by curator Emy Thorissen and department head Pia van Kroonenburgh of the Brabant Collection in collaboration with Van Gogh Village Museum board member Jeroen Veldkamp.
Forty years after Vincent van Gogh left Nuenen, Martien Coppens started photographing Brabant farm life, cottage industry and people in 1922. You will see these extraordinary images as Van Gogh might have seen them.
