Collection requests

What is it?

If you want to collect money or items for a charity, apply for a collection permit from the municipality.

How does it work?

The congregation does not want too many collections to take place at the same time. In a collection schedule, it keeps track of when there are collections. The congregation looks to see if your collection fits the schedule.

For large national campaigns, the municipality tests your application against the advice of the Central Bureau on Fundraising (CBF). At the CBF you can view the national collection schedule. You can also view the municipality's schedule here. Check the collection roster in advance and only then determine the date for collecting or fundraising.

What to do?

You apply for the permit from the municipality.

In your application, you must show that you will responsibly spend the money raised on the stated purpose. Further, please provide the following information:

  • The name of the organization organizing the collection
  • a description of the collection
  • The period in which you wish to hold the collection

It is wise if you submit your application at least 8 weeks in advance.

How long does it take?

You will be notified within 8 weeks whether you will receive the permit. If the municipality does not decide within this period, you will automatically receive the permit to collect.

Objecting

If you disagree with the municipality's decision, you can object within 6 weeks.
