Approximately 250 responses to initial plans Delta Rhine Corridor
In May 2023, the first plans were announced for the construction of several pipelines and direct current cables that will run from Rotterdam through Moerdijk to southern Limburg and on to Germany: the Delta Rhine Corridor. The pipelines are needed to make large industries sustainable and the cables to transport wind energy from sea to inland.
Comments
Anyone could comment on the plans over a six-week period. To explain the plans and answer questions, nine information meetings were organized in June 2023 at locations along the route. A total of about 250 comments were submitted, all of which have since been provided with a response by the project team. The following topics came up frequently:
- Utility and need: Why is this project important?
- Location of pipes and cables
- Safety
- Nature and environment
- Land use and value (landowners).
- Communication: how will everyone be kept informed?
You can read all submitted comments and the project team's response in the Response Note published today on the RFO website
Later this year, the draft research plan for the project will be published. Everyone will then have another opportunity to comment and attend an information session.
