Leaf boxes and leaf litter in Nuenen

In Nuenen we get a lot of questions about leaf litter on the street and about the leaf baskets. Below we explain how it works and what you can expect.

There are two types of hives in our community:

  1. Permanent green bins
These bins are in permanent locations throughout the year. Here you may put pruning and garden waste, such as leaves, grass and small branches. No household waste, no soil and no plastic.
  2. Temporary leaf baskets (fall)
We place these baskets in the fall in places where many leaves fall from municipal trees. They are intended only for leaf litter.

More explanations and locations can be found on the leaf pile page.

Emptying leaf boxes

  • Bins are now emptied about once every 1.5 weeks.
  • Due to crowds, a basket can sometimes be full for longer.
  • Do you see a full basket? Please report this to the congregation. Then we can factor it into the planning.

Leaf removal in the street

  • The leaves on the street are not cleaned up randomly, but according to a joint weekly schedule of Blink, WSD and the municipality .
  • The sweeper focuses on hot spots: places with lots of leaves and busy walking and biking routes are given priority.
  • Extra attention to downtown and bike lanes to keep everything safe and passable.

In autumn, a lot of leaves fall in a short period of time. We cannot clean up everything at once, but work area by area. Thank you for your understanding and help.

More information on sweeping schedules and routes can be found on the sweeping page.
