Report a Protest or Demonstration

Protesting is a fundamental right. To ensure the protest runs smoothly, you are required to notify the municipality in advance. Submit your notification at least 48 hours before your protest begins. Notifying the municipality of a protest or demonstration is free of charge.

When should you report it?

You must register the demonstration 48 hours before it begins and before you announce it on social media.

Demonstrating on weekends or on recognized holidays

  • Will you be holding a demonstration on Friday afternoon or over the weekend? Please register the demonstration no later than 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
  • On recognized holidays, you must notify the authorities of the demonstration two business days prior to the date and time of the demonstration.

What information do you provide?

In the“Demonstration andProtest”form, please provide us with the following information:

  • the name and address of the person organizing the demonstration;
  • the purpose of the demonstration;
  • the date of the demonstration and the start and end times;
  • the location and, if applicable, the route and the destination;
  • to the extent applicable, the method of composition; and
  • measures that the organizer of the demonstration will take to ensure that it proceeds in an orderly manner.
